VisitBoar's Head Recalls Over 7 Million Pounds of Deli Meats Amid Listeria Outbreak, 2 Deaths Reported
Jul 31, 2024, 01:10 AM
Boar's Head Provisions Co. has issued a recall of over 207,000 pounds of deli meats, including liverwurst and other ready-to-eat products, due to potential listeria contamination. The recall has been expanded to include an additional 7 million pounds of 71 products made at the company's Jarratt, Virginia plant between May 10 and July 29, under the Boar's Head and Old Country brand names. The listeria outbreak has sickened nearly three dozen people across 13 states, resulting in two deaths. Affected retailers include Stop & Shop, Big Y, Publix, and others. U.S. health officials have advised consumers to avoid the recalled products and to heat all other deli meats before eating, especially for those at increased risk of illness.
