VisitBoar's Head Recalls 207,528 Pounds of Deli Meat Amid Listeria Outbreak in 13 States
Jul 26, 2024, 06:49 PM
Boar's Head Provisions Co. has recalled 207,528 pounds of ready-to-eat deli meat products, including liverwurst, due to concerns over listeria contamination. The recall follows an investigation by U.S. health officials into a multi-state listeria outbreak that has sickened nearly three dozen people and resulted in two deaths across 13 states. The affected products were distributed nationwide, and several grocery stores, including Stop & Shop and Big Y, have temporarily closed their delis for cleaning. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service has advised consumers to avoid eating the recalled products and to heat all other deli meats before consumption if they are at increased risk of illness. The bacteria involved in the contamination is Listeria monocytogenes.
