Blinken noted that this move is part of an expanding space cooperation between Russia and North Korea, reportedly in exchange for North Korean troop contributions to the conflict in Ukraine. He also mentioned that credible information suggests Moscow is close to reversing decades of policy by potentially accepting North Korea's nuclear status. Concurrently, North Korea fired a ballistic missile toward the sea during the meeting, an action condemned by both Blinken and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul as a violation of U.N.
