VisitBlackRock's IBIT Sees Record $332.6 Million Outflow on January 2, 2025
Jan 3, 2025, 05:15 AM
BlackRock Inc.'s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) experienced its largest single-day outflow since its launch, recording $332.6 million in Bitcoin outflows on January 2, 2025. This event marks a shift for the fund, which had previously enjoyed a record-breaking launch in 2024, amassing over $50 billion in assets within 11 months and reaching $52 billion in assets under management by the end of the year. IBIT's launch was described as the 'greatest launch in ETF history' by industry analysts, surpassing the combined assets under management of more than 50 European market-focused ETFs. BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager with over $11.5 trillion in AUM and managing 1,101 funds, saw IBIT rank as the 13th largest of its funds in less than a year. Despite the recent outflows, IBIT remains a dominant player in the ETF market, having ranked third in inflows among all ETFs in 2024. On January 2, IBIT also saw $2.24 billion in trading volume. On the same day, the broader market saw $242.3 million in net outflows from Bitcoin spot ETFs and $77.5 million from Ethereum spot ETFs.
