VisitBJP, Gaurav Bhatia Demand Mamata Banerjee's Resignation After Supreme Court Hearing on Kolkata Rape-Murder Case
Sep 9, 2024, 08:48 AM
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its criticism of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following a Supreme Court hearing on the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. BJP leaders, including Gaurav Bhatia, have demanded Banerjee's resignation, citing her failure to ensure women's safety in the state and calling for a fair probe. They also called for the removal of the Kolkata Police Commissioner. Banerjee has dismissed allegations that the Kolkata Police offered a bribe to the victim's parents. The Chief Justice of India noted that certain documents were missing from the files submitted by the state government. Bhatia emphasized that the people of West Bengal and the nation have become the defenders of the constitution.
