VisitBJP Alleges ₹250 Crore Bitcoin Scam in Maharashtra Polls, Sule and Patole Respond
Nov 19, 2024, 05:33 PM
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Supriya Sule, an MP from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) (NCP-SP), and Nana Patole, the Maharashtra Congress President, of involvement in a Bitcoin scam related to the ongoing Maharashtra Assembly Elections. The BJP alleges that bitcoins from a 2018 cryptocurrency fraud case were misappropriated to fund the elections, with ₹250 crore distributed to Muslims. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi presented evidence at a press conference, including audio clips purportedly featuring Sule and Patole discussing the exchange of bitcoins for cash. Sule has denied these allegations, calling them 'false information' and has filed a criminal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI). She has also challenged the BJP to a public debate on the issue.
