Acknowledging concerns about his age and stamina, the 82-year-old president admitted uncertainty about serving another full term, saying, "So far, so good, but who knows what I'm going to be when I'm 86 years old?" He emphasized the importance of party unity in his decision to withdraw, stating, "I thought it was more important to unify the party."
