VisitBiden Announces Five New Air Defense Systems for Ukraine with NATO Allies

President Joe Biden has announced new measures to strengthen Ukraine's air defenses in collaboration with NATO allies. The initiative aims to protect Ukrainian cities and civilians from Russian strikes. The United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Italy will provide Ukraine with five strategic air defense systems. These include three additional Patriot systems from the United States, Germany, and Romania, with the Netherlands and other countries contributing parts to enable another battery. Italy will donate a SAMP-T system. Biden emphasized that Ukraine will receive priority when the U.S. exports critical air defense interceptors. The announcement includes a historic donation of air defense equipment, with dozens of additional tactical air defense systems.
