VisitBiden Administration Introduces Immigration Relief for 500,000 Undocumented Spouses of U.S. Citizens Starting August 19
Jul 17, 2024, 06:20 PM
The Biden administration has introduced a new program to provide immigration relief for undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens. This initiative, described by Jonathan Blitzer as the most significant act of immigration relief in over a decade, will protect an estimated 500,000 people from deportation if they have been in the U.S. for at least 10 years and were married to a citizen as of June 17, 2024. The program, which includes 'parole in place,' will allow these individuals to apply for green cards without leaving the country. Applications for the program will be accepted starting August 19, 2024. USCIS will oversee the application process. Rep. Jayapal and Rep. Espaillat have praised the executive actions and parole programs included in this initiative.
