Russia's Kremlin announced that nine countries will officially become partner states of BRICS starting January 1, 2025. The countries include Belarus, Bolivia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan. This decision was confirmed by Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov and marks a continuation of BRICS's expansion efforts following last year's historic membership increase. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has welcomed this development, indicating it signifies a growing influence of BRICS and a commitment to enhancing cooperation among member and partner nations. The addition of these countries is seen as a significant step in strengthening the collective voice of the Global South.
