VisitBeirut and Southern Lebanon Receive 80,000 Evacuation Calls Amid Israeli Warnings Near Hezbollah Posts
Sep 23, 2024, 10:40 AM
Lebanese citizens, including those in Beirut and southern Lebanon, have received approximately 80,000 phone messages and calls purportedly from Israeli sources, urging them to evacuate their locations. The messages, which were reported by Lebanon’s National News Agency and confirmed by the head of Lebanese telecom operator Ogero, Imad Kreidieh, are part of a psychological warfare tactic. The warnings specifically target areas near Hezbollah posts, with some residents given a two-hour deadline to leave. The Lebanese Ministry of Information has also reported receiving these evacuation messages. A Reuters reporter in the south confirmed the calls, which came just before the beginning of airstrikes.
