Beach Boys' Brian Wilson Under Conservatorship After Wife's Death, Dementia Diagnosis

Brian Wilson, the 81-year-old founder of the Beach Boys, has been placed under a court-ordered conservatorship following a diagnosis of dementia and the recent death of his wife, Melinda Ledbetter. The conservatorship, approved by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gus T. May, will be managed by Wilson's longtime publicist and manager, Jean Sievers, and his longtime business manager, LeeAnn Hard. The decision was made after medical professionals diagnosed Wilson with a major neurocognitive disorder, leading the court to find that he was no longer capable of managing his personal and medical decisions. The conservatorship covers Wilson's personal and medical affairs only, not his estate. Wilson consents and does not object to the conservatorship.
