Oct 20, 2024, 03:06 AM
The Florida Gators defeated the Kentucky Wildcats 48-20 at The Swamp in Gainesville. Overcoming early red zone struggles that led to a 6-0 advantage early in the second quarter, the Gators surged ahead. Freshman running back Jadan Baugh rushed for 106 yards and scored five touchdowns, tying a UF record and becoming the third player in program history to achieve this feat. Quarterback DJ Lagway shined in his first SEC start, delivering impressive passes including a 40-yard strike to Tre Wilson and a 50-yard completion to Elijhah Badger. Despite a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown by Kentucky's Barion Brown, Florida led 27-13 at halftime. The Gators' defense also excelled, with Cormani McClain returning an interception for a touchdown. Florida amassed 279 passing yards and 197 rushing yards, overpowering Kentucky's third-ranked total defense.
