Baltimore City School Board Extends Long-Serving CEO Santelises' Contract by One Year

The Baltimore City school board has agreed to a one-year contract extension for long-serving CEO Dr. Sonja Santelises. The decision, made at a board meeting, comes after months of delay and despite Santelises' request for a longer term. The extension was announced with just over two weeks remaining until her current contract was set to expire. The board cited the progress of students and staff as a reason for the extension. Mayor, a supporter of Santelises, will have five picks for the school board after July 1.
