The shooting occurred at approximately 4:05 a.m. on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. The incident is being investigated by the Toronto Police Hate Crime Unit, with some officials describing it as an act of domestic terrorism. Mayor Olivia Chow condemned the 'horrific antisemitic act' and reiterated the need for safety for the students and community. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
