Jun 12, 2024, 12:02 PM
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced plans to launch a new infrastructure region in Taiwan by early 2025. The region will include three Availability Zones connected via fully redundant high-bandwidth, low-latency fiber. This initiative is part of AWS's rapid expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. AWS plans to invest tens of billions of US dollars over the next 15 years to build data centers in Taiwan. The new region will be named AWS Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region. Currently, AWS operates 105 Availability Zones within 33 regions globally, with plans for 21 more Availability Zones and seven additional regions, including the new Taiwan region. Media reports highlight that AWS is among the Big 4 global cloud service providers.
