VisitAWS to Invest $5 Billion in Mexico Over 15 Years, Creating 7,000 Jobs and Boosting GDP by $10 Billion
Jan 14, 2025, 02:15 PM
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a $5 billion investment in Mexico over the next 15 years, marking a significant commitment to the region. The investment will fund the creation of a new digital region in Querétaro, which is expected to contribute approximately $10 billion to Mexico's GDP over the same period. The initiative is projected to support an average of more than 7,000 jobs annually. The announcement was made during a press conference attended by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard. AWS's investment is part of a broader strategy to enhance Mexico's digital economy, with a focus on cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies. The new AWS Mexico (Central) Region will enable local businesses to run applications and store data within the country, meeting data residency requirements and providing low latency services.
