VisitAustin Dillon's Final Appeal on Richmond Penalties Denied, Must Win at Darlington
Aug 26, 2024, 07:31 PM
Richard Childress Racing (RCR) and driver Austin Dillon have lost their final appeal against penalties imposed following a race at Richmond Raceway on August 11, 2024. The penalties, which stemmed from a rule violation by the No. 3 car on the last lap of the race, were upheld by the National Motorsports Final Appeal Officer, Bill Mullis. As a result, Dillon's win at Richmond will not count towards NASCAR Playoffs eligibility, leaving him in a must-win situation at the upcoming race in Darlington to secure a spot in the playoffs. The decision was based on data from SMT and IDAS systems, which indicated a rule violation occurred.
