In August 2024, China's average temperature reached 22.6°C, which is 1.5°C higher than the historical norm for the same period. This marks the highest temperature recorded for August since 1961. The northern hemisphere summer of 2024 has been recorded as the hottest summer globally. The European climate service Copernicus reported that this summer was 0.03°C warmer than the previous record set in 2023. August 2024 was the warmest month globally with an average temperature of 16.82°C, which is 0.71°C above the average for that month during the period 1991-2020.
