August 11 Attack: North Korean Missiles Hit Kyiv Region, Zelensky Urges Western Support

On the night of August 11, 2024, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using North Korean KN-23 ballistic missiles. One of the missiles hit private residential buildings near Brovary in the Kyiv region, resulting in the deaths of a 4-year-old boy and his father, and injuring three others, including a 13-year-old. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted all four KN-23 missiles and shot down 53 out of 57 Shahed drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the use of North Korean missiles in the attack and reiterated his call for Western allies to allow Ukraine to use Western weapons to strike Russian positions.
