Ulbrich, a former NFL linebacker, served as the interim head coach for the New York Jets last season. His hiring reunites him with Raheem Morris, the Falcons' head coach, with whom he previously worked from 2015 to 2020. The Falcons moved on from Jimmy Lake after a season of defensive struggles and selected Ulbrich after interviewing seven candidates. Ulbrich chose the Falcons over other opportunities.
