VisitAstranis Raises $200M in Series D Led by a16z to Fund Omega Program and 100 MicroGEO Satellites

Astranis has successfully raised $200 million in a Series D funding round led by a16z Growth Fund and co-led by BAM Elevate. This latest round brings the total capital raised by the San Francisco-based satellite developer to $750 million. The funding will fully finance the Omega satellite program, which aims to build and launch 100 MicroGEO satellites by 2030. Astranis, known for developing small broadband communications satellites, has also sold $1 billion in satellite services and secured over $16.5 million in US government contracts. The company has established a manufacturing facility in San Francisco and assembled a world class team of 350 experts. Since fiftyyears led the pre-seed round in 2016, Astranis has made significant strides, including the development of the Omega constellation. This milestone brings Astranis closer to its mission of providing affordable internet access to millions around the world.
