Sep 18, 2024, 06:20 PM
Armenian authorities have thwarted an attempted coup allegedly orchestrated by Russia. The National Security Service of Armenia announced that the plot involved seven individuals, including five Armenian citizens and two former residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, who had undergone military training in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Three of the suspects have been arrested, while four remain at large. The Investigative Committee of Armenia stated that the conspirators aimed to usurp power through violence and had received financial support amounting to 220,000 RUB per month each. The Armenian government has accused Russia of funding and planning the coup in an effort to overthrow Armenia's pro-Western Pashinyan government. The coup attempt was uncovered on September 18.
