VisitArmed Man Arrested Near Trump Rally; Sheriff Suggests Assassination Attempt
Oct 13, 2024, 08:26 PM
An armed man was arrested near former President Donald Trump's rally in Coachella Valley, California, on October 12, authorities said. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department detained 49-year-old Las Vegas resident Vem Miller, who was allegedly found with multiple illegal firearms, including a loaded handgun, a shotgun, and a high-capacity magazine, as well as fake VIP and press passes. Sheriff Chad Bianco initially suggested that deputies 'probably stopped another assassination attempt' and held a press conference. However, later reports indicated that there was no assassination attempt, and Miller appeared to be a Trump supporter. Miller was arrested at a checkpoint outside the rally for illegal firearm possession, released on $5,000 bail, and is scheduled to appear in court on January 2.
