Dec 7, 2024, 06:36 PM
Arizona State University (ASU) defeated Iowa State University 45-19 to win the Big 12 Championship. Running back Cam Skattebo led the Sun Devils with an outstanding performance, amassing over 200 total yards, including a notable 53-yard run, and scoring three touchdowns. Skattebo had 140 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, helping ASU to a 24-10 halftime lead. ASU, picked to finish last in the conference before the season, secured a spot in the College Football Playoff with this victory and is expected to be the 12th seed. Wide receiver Xavier Guillory stepped up in the absence of injured Jordyn Tyson, catching two touchdown passes from quarterback Sam Leavitt. ASU defensive back Shamari Simmons was ejected for targeting Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht and will miss the first half of the team's next game. Becht returned to the game after the injury. The Sun Devils extended their lead to 45-10 before Iowa State added late points, including a field goal while trailing by 35 points.
