Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has launched a probe into a complaint by T.J. Shope regarding a potential link between donations benefiting Governor Katie Hobbs and a state contract. The investigation also involves a group home with ties to Hobbs. Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell has agreed to weigh in on the matter. However, Mayes has asserted her sole authority over the investigation, instructing both the Maricopa County Attorney's Office and the state auditor general to step aside. In a separate development, Mayes is also involved in the high-profile 'fake electors' case, where former Governor Doug Ducey is listed as a potential witness. This case aims to hold some of former President Donald Trump's associates, attorneys, and political supporters accountable.
