Aramark Workers Protest in Center City on Wednesday, Causing Major Disruptions and Arrests

Hundreds of food service union workers for Aramark, represented by Unite Here Local 274, are staging a massive protest in Center City, Philadelphia on Wednesday. The workers, including cooks, servers, bartenders, and concession workers, are demanding better pay and benefits. The protest, described as civil disobedience, has led to significant disruptions, including the closure of Market Street Eastbound and the Market Street Bridge between Center City and University City during rush hour. Police have been making arrests as the protest continues outside Aramark's headquarters at 24th and Market Streets. Previous demonstrations by these workers have taken place at the South Philly sports complex, where they work at venues such as the Wells Fargo Center, Lincoln Financial Field, and Citizens Bank Park.
