VisitApple to Integrate Japan's 'My Number' ID into Wallet App Next Spring
May 30, 2024, 05:45 AM
Apple has announced that Japan's 'My Number' national identification card will be integrated into Apple's Wallet app, allowing iPhone users to use their devices in place of the physical card. This marks the first time an official digital ID will be supported on Apple Wallet outside of the United States. The rollout is set to begin in the spring of next year. The move was confirmed after Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi stated that Prime Minister Kishida had agreed with Apple's CEO on the integration. This development aims to make it easier for iPhone users in Japan to access their national ID cards digitally.
