VisitApple's Face ID Smart Doorbell, Integrating HomeKit, Set for Late 2025 Launch
Dec 22, 2024, 02:47 PM
Apple Inc. is reportedly developing a smart home doorbell and lock system that incorporates Face ID technology, aiming to challenge Amazon's Ring and Google's Nest in the smart home market. The system, still in early development, would use facial recognition to unlock the door for recognized individuals. It is expected to connect wirelessly to a compatible deadbolt lock, potentially working with existing HomeKit-compatible third-party locks or in partnership with a specific lock maker to offer a complete solution. The product, which would integrate with Apple's HomeKit platform, is not anticipated to launch before late 2025, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
