VisitApple and Google Wallets Now Support California Driver’s Licenses and State IDs
Sep 19, 2024, 06:13 PM
Apple has announced that California residents can now add their driver's licenses and state IDs to Apple Wallet on iPhone and Apple Watch. This feature is part of the California DMV's mobile driver's license (MDL) pilot program. California is the seventh U.S. state to adopt mobile driver's licenses for iPhones, reflecting a broader trend towards digital IDs. Apple also revealed that support for driver's licenses in the Wallet app will soon expand to Montana, New Mexico, and West Virginia, as well as internationally to Japan. Additionally, the digital ID can be used for private verification and is supported at locations such as San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Google wallets also now support California driver’s licenses.
