Sep 19, 2024, 09:07 PM
Apple has announced that California residents can now add their driver's licenses and state IDs to Apple Wallet on their iPhones and Apple Watches. This feature is part of the California Department of Motor Vehicles’ mobile driver’s license (MDL) pilot program, which is limited to 1.5 million participants. The digital IDs can be securely stored and presented, including at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), marking a significant step in the adoption of digital identification. California is the seventh state to adopt this technology. Apple has also revealed plans to expand this feature to Montana, New Mexico, and West Virginia, as well as internationally to Japan. Google Wallet also supports California driver's licenses.
