Nov 1, 2024, 05:07 PM
Apple Inc. announced on Friday an agreement to acquire Pixelmator, a Lithuanian developer of popular photo-editing apps including Pixelmator Pro and Photomator, pending regulatory approval. The acquisition, reportedly valued at $300 million, aims to bolster Apple's image editing capabilities with AI features across its devices and platforms, potentially enhancing its Photos app. Pixelmator stated that there will be "no material changes" to its applications in the immediate future. The move comes nearly ten years after Apple discontinued its Aperture software and could increase competition in the creative software market dominated by Adobe Inc.
