VisitAntony Blinken Approves $52.8M Sale of AN/SSQ-53G Sonobuoys to India
Aug 24, 2024, 05:04 AM
The United States has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale to India, involving Anti-Submarine Warfare Sonobuoys and related equipment, valued at approximately $52.8 million. This equipment, including AN/SSQ-53G High Altitude Sonobuoys, is intended for integration with India's MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, which are part of a $2.13 billion contract signed in February 2020. The sale aims to enhance India's naval capabilities and strengthen the strategic relationship between the US and India, contributing to security in the Indo-Pacific and South Asia regions. The approval by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken comes at a time when India's Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh, is visiting the United States. The first squadron of MH-60R helicopters was raised in March 2024.
