Jul 7, 2024, 11:19 PM
Raphaël Arnault, a member of the French Antifa and former spokesperson for the Jeune Garde group, has been elected to the French parliament representing the Avignon area. Arnault, who is classified as a threat to the French state by security services, won the election under the banner of the communist, socialist, and green coalition, defeating Marine Le Pen's National Rally candidate with 54.98% of the vote. Arnault's group, Jeune Garde, is under investigation for the beating of a 15-year-old Jewish boy in May. He was elected in the first constituency of Vaucluse as a member of the far-left La France insoumise party.
