VisitAngelica Maria Francisco Pleads Guilty to Identity Theft, Voting Fraud in Alabama
Sep 8, 2024, 06:57 PM
Angelica Maria Francisco, a 42-year-old illegal immigrant from Guatemala, has reached a plea agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to plead guilty to charges of identity theft and voting fraud. Francisco admitted to stealing a U.S. citizen's identity, which she used to vote in multiple U.S. elections, including the 2016 and 2020 primary and general elections in Alabama, and to obtain a U.S. passport. A nine-count information was filed in the U.S. District Court against Francisco, who most recently resided in Russellville, Arkansas. The case, announced by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona in Birmingham, highlights ongoing concerns about election integrity and the ability of undocumented immigrants to participate in U.S. elections.
