VisitAndhra CM Naidu Forms SIT to Probe Tirupati Laddu Adulteration Allegations, Orders Temple Cleansing
Sep 22, 2024, 06:02 PM
The Tirupati laddu controversy has escalated in Andhra Pradesh, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announcing a series of measures to address the issue. Allegations of adulteration, specifically involving the use of inferior ghee in the renowned laddus offered at the Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple, have sparked public outrage. Naidu has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe these allegations and ensure accountability. Additionally, he has ordered the cleansing of all state temples to restore their sanctity. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has also conducted a 'Maha Shanti Homam' purification ritual in response to the controversy. The TTD has formed a sensory panel, and the vigilance department is also investigating. Meanwhile, Jagan Mohan Reddy, leader of the YSR Congress Party, has criticized Naidu, accusing him of using religious sentiments for political gains. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking an SIT probe into the matter.
