VisitAmerican Airlines Sued for Race Discrimination After Temporarily Removing Black Passengers from Phoenix to New York Flight
May 29, 2024, 03:52 PM
Three Black men have filed a federal lawsuit against American Airlines, alleging they were victims of 'blatant and egregious race discrimination' after being temporarily removed from a flight on January 5. The incident occurred on a flight from Phoenix, Arizona, to New York City, where a white flight attendant complained about a passenger's body odor. The lawsuit claims that a total of eight Black men were asked to deboard the plane due to the complaint. The plaintiffs did not know each other and were not seated together. Initially, the plaintiffs were 'annoyed and frustrated' that they were getting bumped and would probably get home late. The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday, May 29.
