American Airlines Cuts Austin Routes, Ends Nine Weekly Nonstop Flights
American Airlines is making significant changes to its flight routes, particularly affecting Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The Fort Worth-based airline will discontinue several routes from Austin, including Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Orlando in October, Boston, Nashville, and Raleigh-Durham in November, and Orange County in January 2025. After these cuts, American Airlines will only serve its hubs, as well as Aspen, Cancun, and Los Cabos from Austin. Despite these reductions, travelers will still have options for nonstop flights on Southwest Airlines and Delta Airlines from Austin on many of the affected routes. Additionally, American Airlines will soon end its nine weekly nonstop flights between Las Vegas and Austin.
