Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing unit of tech giant Amazon, announced on Wednesday a significant investment of €15.7 billion ($17.02 billion) in data centers in Spain. The investment will be focused on the Aragon region and is part of an upgraded growth plan in the country. This new plan replaces a previous 2021 commitment of €2.5 billion. The Aragon government has stated that the deal spans over 10 years, marking it as the largest outlay Amazon has announced in Europe to date. The investment aims to expand its cloud business in Europe.
