Amazon's AWS in Talks to Invest Billions in Italian Data Center Expansion, Including Milan Site

Amazon's cloud computing unit, AWS, is in discussions with Italy to invest billions of euros in expanding its data center business. This investment is part of AWS's broader strategy to enhance its cloud services across Europe. AWS recently announced a 15.7 billion euros investment in data centers in Spain's Aragon region, replacing a previous 10-year plan that had earmarked 2.5 billion euros. AWS launched its first cloud region in Italy in 2020, with plans to invest €2 billion by 2029. Major AWS customers in Italy include Ferrari and insurer Assicurazioni Generali. The potential expansion could involve the Milan site or new site construction.
