VisitAmazon Raises Wages to $22/Hour, Adds Free Prime Memberships for Warehouse Workers
Sep 18, 2024, 03:56 PM
Amazon announced a significant increase in wages for its hourly warehouse and transportation workers in the U.S. The company is boosting pay by at least $1.50 an hour, raising the average base wage to more than $22 per hour. Depending on location, base wages will now range from $18.50 to $29.50 per hour. In Salt Lake City, hourly employees will all make an additional $2.25 an hour starting in October. In addition to the pay raise, Amazon is adding free Prime memberships to the benefits package for these employees. The new compensation package, which includes the Prime membership perk, aims to increase the average total compensation for fulfillment and transportation employees to over $29 per hour. This move comes after a series of layoffs and is seen as an effort to retain and attract staff ahead of the busy shopping season.
