Amazon is planning a significant upgrade to its Alexa voice assistant by incorporating generative AI features, CNBC reported. The enhanced version of Alexa is expected to be more conversational and will come with a monthly subscription fee, separate from the existing $139/year Prime membership. This move is aimed at leveraging the existing network of over 71 million Alexa users and could serve as a significant revenue driver for the company. The AI-infused version of Alexa is expected to be rolled out later in 2024.
