VisitAmazon Increases Anthropic Investment to $8B, Becomes Primary Cloud Partner

Amazon.com Inc. is investing an additional $4 billion in Anthropic, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup founded by former OpenAI executives, bringing its total investment to $8 billion while maintaining a minority stake—representing Amazon's largest external investment to date. As part of the deal, Anthropic has named Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its primary cloud and training partner and will collaborate with Amazon's Annapurna Labs to develop new Trainium accelerators. Anthropic, known for its AI model Claude, will use AWS Trainium and Inferentia chips to train and deploy its AI models. Anthropic's total funding has now reached $13.7 billion.
