Hall of Famer and former NBA champion Alonzo Mourning underwent successful surgery to remove his prostate after being diagnosed with Stage 3 prostate cancer. According to ESPN, additional testing revealed that the cancer did not spread, and Mourning is now considered cancer-free. Mourning, a Miami Heat icon, Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, and current Heat executive, is advocating for men to get PSA checks for prostate cancer, highlighting that 1-in-44 men in the U.S. will be affected by the disease. Mourning shared his story to raise awareness, noting that there are 3.3 million men living with prostate cancer in the U.S., many of whom are unaware of their condition.
