Alfa Anderson, a lead vocalist for the iconic disco band Chic, has died at the age of 78. Anderson, known for her contributions to hits such as 'Le Freak,' 'Good Times,' and 'I Want Your Love,' passed away on December 17. Her death was confirmed by Nile Rodgers, co-founder of Chic, who paid tribute to her on Instagram, expressing gratitude and noting that she would be 'forever loved.' Anderson joined Chic in 1977, initially as a backup singer, before becoming a lead vocalist following the departure of Norma Jean Wright in 1978. Her work with Chic helped define the disco era, and her voice was featured on several of the band's biggest hits. Beyond Chic, Anderson had a varied career, working with artists like Luther Vandross, Mick Jagger, and Bryan Adams, and later becoming a high school principal in the 1990s.
