VisitAdidas and Thom Browne Resume Legal Battle Over Striped Trademarks in London
Jul 17, 2024, 04:35 PM
Athletic wear giant Adidas and fashion house Thom Browne have resumed their legal battle over competing striped trademarks in London's High Court. The dispute, which is part of a multijurisdictional trademark conflict, focuses on Adidas' three-stripe design and Thom Browne's use of a four-bar stripe pattern. Thom Browne, a New York-based designer, accused Adidas of trying to monopolize any use of a three-stripe design in clothing and footwear. The legal proceedings began after Thom Browne sued Adidas in 2021 to revoke several of Adidas' trademarks featuring the three-stripe motif. The court heard arguments about Adidas seeking a monopoly on the stripe design.
