VisitACA Open Enrollment Begins Today; Estimated 100,000 DACA Recipients Eligible
Nov 1, 2024, 04:01 PM
Open enrollment for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplaces for 2025 begins today, November 1, 2024, and runs through January 15, 2025, in most states. Americans can sign up for affordable health care coverage by visiting healthcare.gov. Those who enroll by December 15 will have coverage starting January 1. DACA recipients are eligible to enroll in ACA coverage for the first time, potentially allowing an estimated 100,000 individuals to sign up for health insurance. This follows a rule finalized by the Biden administration earlier this year. However, Kansas and 18 other states have filed a lawsuit to block the rule from taking effect. Premium subsidies averaging $705 per person remain in effect through 2025, thanks to federal legislation such as the Inflation Reduction Act. Last year, over 21 million people signed up for affordable health coverage through ACA marketplaces, a record high since the launch of the marketplace. Consumers are encouraged to explore their options and enroll to ensure they have health coverage in 2025.
