VisitAbel Police, Founded by Daniel Francis, Raises $5M to Automate Police Reports with AI
Oct 17, 2024, 09:42 PM
Abel Police, an AI startup founded by Daniel Francis after helping a friend out of an abusive relationship and witnessing inefficiencies in police reporting, announced it has raised $5 million in seed funding to develop technology that converts police body camera footage and dispatch call data into written reports. The funding round was led by DayOneVC, with participation from Y Combinator and other prominent investors, including Garry Tan. Abel's platform aims to significantly reduce the time police officers spend on paperwork—from 25% of their time to as little as 2%—by automating the report-writing process. This could effectively increase police capacity by 50% without hiring additional officers. The company's goal is to enable officers to focus more on community policing and the duties that inspired them to join the force.
