At least 65 long-finned pilot whales have died in one of the largest mass strandings in Britain in recent times. The incident occurred on Thursday on Tresness Beach, located on the Orkney island of Sanday, off the northeastern coast of Scotland. British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR), a rescue charity, reported finding a total of 77 whales stranded, with only 12 still alive but unlikely to survive. This event has been described as the biggest mass stranding in decades.
