Visit61-Year-Old New Jersey Woman Burned to Death on NYC Subway Identified as Debrina Kawam
Dec 31, 2024, 05:11 PM
Police have identified the woman who was set on fire and killed on a New York City subway train as 61-year-old Debrina Kawam of Toms River, New Jersey. The incident occurred on December 22 when Kawam was sleeping on a stationary F train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station in Brooklyn. She was attacked by a man who set her on fire in what authorities describe as an apparently random act. The attacker allegedly used a shirt to fan the flames after setting Kawam on fire. Due to the severity of her burns, it took police several days to confirm her identity, eventually using dental records.
